About the Film
Siglo ng Kalinga intersects the lives of two passionate nurses, Anna and Estacia, to the life of the Founder of the Philippine Nurses Association, Anastacia Giron Tupas (AGT), who defies all odds to advance the nursing conditions in the country during her time in the 1920s. They, too, dedicated their lives to serving the nursing community despite personal struggles during their own time.
Anna, coming from a poor neighborhood, strives hard to achieve better education that is otherwise not offered to many. Despite familial hurdles, she continues to uphold AGT's personal and professional values by serving her community as a nurse; holding on to the professional ideals of advancing the nursing standards in the Philippines.
Meanwhile, Estacia parallels the life and later years of AGT. Even after retiring as a dean of nursing, she still advocates for the improvement of the working conditions of healthcare professionals and the communities they serve. She passes her torch to Anna who will continue her work as a nursing leader to future generations.
But how much of themselves should they give in the service of the country and the people? How much has changed a hundred years?
As we look back at AGT's images and ideals, her beginnings and experiences remain consistent in the present. Our health problems are a manifestation of societal ills, as we have the propensity to neglect the need to invest in the fundamentals of a productive and vibrant country.
Siglo ng Kalinga will take a closer look at the sacrifices the nursing heroes have provided the Filipinos throughout the years and how much more should be given for the betterment of the health sector.

'Siglo ng Kalinga' film to mark 100 years of PNA
- A groundbreaking film with an all-nurse cast aimed at celebrating 100 years of the Philippine Nurses Association (PNA) was launched on October 9 at a dinner marking the centennial held at the PNA courtyard on Benitez Street, Ermita, Manila.
- Dr. Carl Balita said his own movie production company is bankrolling the film in cooperation with the PNA, of which he remains an active member.
- "My life and career have been devoted to nursing. My dream is to elevate our profession to a higher level of appreciation through this film," he said.
- Lemuel Lorca ("Ned's Project," "Intoy Shokoy ng Kalye Marino," "Water Lemon," "Maestra") has been tapped to direct "Siglo ng Kalinga." Lorca described the film as a fusion between past and present, juxtaposing the experiences and lessons gleaned from the life of Anastacia Giron Tupas, who founded the Filipino Nurses Association (FNA) in 1922. The FNA was to become the PNA years later.

about the theme song
“Walang Hanggang Kalinga” is written by Dr. CARL BALITA with music by the award-winning composer and hit maker VEHNEE SATURNO. This winning duo has collaborated before in the theme song of the movie Maestra entitled “One in You.” Dr. Carl Balita also made his versions of some of Vehnee’s hits such as “Isang Lahi” and “Maghintay Ka Lamang” which are hits among his audiences.
“Walang Hanggang Kalinga” is performed by no other than the Pop Diva KUH LEDESMA who is a registered nurse herself and Dr. Carl Balita.
